adrian solomon owner and operator of all in the details
I wasn’t one of those people who knew what she wanted to do from age 5. I ended up here
by a combination of good decisions and good luck! I graduated from Rutgers College with a
double major in Communications and Statistics and my first job was on Wall Street.
After a couple years, I left that path and ran away to Club Med, vacation resort. I lived on
property, at resorts all over the world, helping guests to have the most fabulous vacation
possible. And I realized that the hospitality industry was the place for me. I held a number of different positions on property and then was promoted to the corporate office. This position entailed planning corporate and social events at the resorts. I handled events ranging from a 20 person family reunion, a 50 person beach wedding, a 200 person corporate training, and an 800 person group who would rent an entire resort. The events were worldwide and entailed managing a staff of 200 people (who didn’t work for me).
I left Club Med and moved back to NJ to be near my family. I got a job doing medical meeting planning. It was an easy transition as the position utilized a lot of the same skills I used at Club Med. For the first time, I was planning events within the United States (and I wasn’t planning any beach volleyball tournaments). I worked in this industry full time for about 10 years, planning small meetings and large scale conferences; and am now a consultant in planning and executing medical education events.
Then luck and networking provided me the opportunity to run my own event planning company, all in the details. As I suggest to all the students who contact me, I learned the industry on someone else’s dime. I was able to get a wide breadth of experience, giving me the capability to manage and execute a lot of different types of events. And lucky for me, I really enjoy handling a variety of event types. I enjoy being my own boss. (Luckily I am a self-starter!) Whether I am working on a wedding, corporate meeting or destination event abroad, I thrive on seeing a project from inception through execution.
